Mother’s Day Yoga Nidra + Restorative Yoga

Mother’s Day Yoga Nidra + Restorative Yoga

with Astrid Bernard

Sunday, May 12th from 4-5:30 PM

This Mother's Day, we look forward to providing an opportunity for deep relaxation and self care. Whether you’re a mom or not, we all could benefit from intentional relaxation and Astrid's offering will be such a treat to our overworked nervous systems.

Enjoy a relaxing evening in the studio and take a break from all the "to dos" of life. Astrid will guide you into soothing restorative poses and take you through a deeply healing Yoga Nidra meditation!

What is Restorative Yoga?

It is a style of Yoga. Each pose is held for longer periods than in conventional Yoga classes. We use props ( bolsters, blankets, blocks ) to help support our practice. It is very relaxing and soothing for the nervous system. This style of yoga is accessible for most people/all levels.

What is Yoga Nidra?

During Yoga Nidra you are prompted to feel your body and your breath using a specific technique that takes you out of “ fight - flight - freeze” state and triggers the relaxation response. The relaxation response is the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system. In this process your brain shifts from Beta brain waves to Alpha brain waves, then to Theta. This is the most restorative and restful state in which organs regenerate and the body metabolizes cortisol (the stress hormone) and moves it out of your system.
