Sara Jane Otis
Hello my name is Sara Jane Otis.
Three words to describe me are steadfast, deliberative, and philomath.
When I’m not teaching yoga I am practicing yoga, learning about yoga, or endeavoring to align other areas of my life to the yogic path. Beyond that, you will find me making positive impact through my career in international higher education, writing grants for local non-profits, brushing my horse, walking in nature, reading, writing, journaling, researching, engaging in creative solitude, beautifying my home and garden, or cultivating my heart-connections with loved ones.
My ideal morning is rising before the sun, filled with gratitude for the many blessings in my life, situated in a beautiful space with an expansive view of nature, and honoring my daily sadhana of movement and meditation.
I dream about majestic coastlines, meandering pathways though nature, and wide open spaces.
I am grateful for sun salutes, somatic experiencing, fresh cut flowers, and bear hugs.
Yoga has taught me that, come what may, we can generate the grace to navigate through all of life’s challenges.
I love to teach classes toward the slower end of the yoga spectrum: Gentle, Slow Flow, Yin, Restorative, and Nidra.
Three words to describe my teaching style are devotional, resilience-informed, and heart-centered.
As a teacher, I continue to learn, love, serve, and practice.
Music you might hear in my class is ambient and neuro-functional frequencies to soothe the nervous system and facilitate positive constructive mind wandering. Before and after class you can expect instrumental music or a love song on repeat to promote emotional regulation and mental coherence.
My yoga experience includes over twenty years of consistent practice and progressive education under the expert guidance of a wide variety of teachers across a broad spectrum of yogic disciplines. May the journey continue.
I am excited to be a part of the Harmony House community because it humbles me along the path of self-actualization and is a wellspring of beautiful friendships, learning, and love.
